NOTE:

- These mochilas are woven with a very different type of raw natural sheep wool, the textures of these bags are very bristly, spiky and rough. Some may find them itchy and uncomfortable as a bag, so we are selling these mochilas as decor, plant hangers and wall hangings.

_________________

The Arhuaca mochilas ('mochila' means bag in Spanish) are created by an indigenous tribe called - Arhuaco, and they live in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Colombia and consider this part of the country to be the heart of the world. Their mission is to preserve the natural order of the earth and its surroundings.

We are working with an indigenous women led artisan group in the breathtaking Sierra Nevada mountains . These mochilas are lovingly handwoven by the women of the community with natural sheep wool, one bag can take anywhere from 20-40 days to weave, therefore each bag is completely unique.

Experience the ancient woven stories of the deeply spiritual and beautiful Arhuacos people through wearable art.
