The Arhuaca mochilas ('mochila' means bag in Spanish) are created by an indigenous tribe called - Arhuaco, and they live in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Colombia and consider this part of the country to be the heart of the world. Their mission is to preserve the natural order of the earth and its surroundings.

We are working with an indigenous women led artisan group in the breathtaking Sierra Nevada mountains . These mochilas are lovingly handwoven by the women of the community with natural sheep wool, one bag can take anywhere from 20-40 days to weave, therefore each bag is completely unique.

Experience the ancient woven stories of the deeply spiritual and beautiful Arhuacos people through wearable art.

The Arhuaca mochilas are very spacious, durable and resistant to all types of weather. it is made from 100% sheep wool. They are worn by everyone in all seasons.

PATTERN & MEANING: 

"PIEDRAS" means stones in Spanish.  Grounding and Stability: Many spiritual traditions view stones as symbols of stability and grounding. The solidity and permanence of stones can represent a strong foundation, both physically and spiritually.

NOTE:

- Not all mochilas are designed to be cross body bags, some straps are shorter to be used as just shoulder bags, please check the measurement and keep that in mind.
