Arhuaca Mochila – Handwoven Wool Bag from Colombia
Our Arhuaca mochilas (mochila means "bag" in Spanish) are made by the Arhuaco people, an Indigenous community from the Sierra Nevada mountains in Colombia, a place known as the heart of the world. Their way of life is deeply connected to nature, and each bag reflects that care and purpose.
We partner directly with a women-led artisan group high up in the mountains. Each mochila is handwoven from natural sheep wool, and can take anywhere from 30 to 90 days to make. No two are the same, each one is full of character, story, and soul.
These bags are super roomy, strong, and weather-resistant. Traditionally, everyone in the community wears them — through all seasons, for all kinds of journeys.

PATTERN & MEANING:
"TINZINA" means flower in Indigenous Arhuaco language. Symbol of Life and Growth: The life cycle of a flower, from bud to bloom to withering, mirrors the cycle of life. Flowers can symbolize the continuous process of growth, decay, and regeneration, reflecting the impermanence of existence.
